Climate Change
Climate change and environmental sustainability is a major area of focus for EPF. In fact, EPF is one of the few organizations in the region that
working on needs to adapt different development strategies in a changing climate. We are carrying out research on climate change issues with a
national, regional & global perspective. EPF is working on a regional approach to respond to climate change and at the local level we study the impact
of climate change on food security & agriculture. We are working on the following goals.
- Lowering the risks posed by the consequences of climate change, carried out in response to or in anticipation of changes in climatic
conditions
- Climate Change education in schools and colleges
- Focusing on local level initiatives, to enable vulnerable people to identify and implement community-based responses to climate change
themselves
- Building effective and good governance structures to manage and plan for climate change
- Supporting efforts to reduce or prevent emission of greenhouse gases
- Building adaptation and disaster risk reduction policies that contribute to eradicating poverty
- Reducing exposure to hazards and lessening vulnerability of people, property and the environment, building resilience and improving
preparedness for adverse events
